Project description

Joseph-Venne Plaza, Montreal

Located on the corner of Ontario Street East and Poupart Street, Joseph-Venne Plaza honours one of Quebec’s great building architects who made his mark in the late 1800s. Standing tall as a modernist at the cusp of XXth century, Joseph Venne brought recognition to his profession and revolutionized construction with the introduction of new materials and techniques. This illustrious Montrealer designed more than 150 buildings which have contributed to Quebec’s rich heritage.

As part of the neighbourhood’s greening trend, Joseph-Venne Plaza has added two rain gardens for better drainage. However, the project highlight is the image of giant leaves traced out by two tones of Prestige pavers. In addition, the center of the plaza rises up in the form of a backlit fountain.

The Joseph-Venne public plaza was completed in two phases. The first phase began in 2015 and the second was completed in 2016. Bolduc Prestige pavers cover a total of 10,000 sq. ft.
